Enjoyed a breakfast at La Plancha! Glad they’re open and serving up delicious food!

We really enjoy Mike’s music but think more people would be attracted if instead of rows of chairs you put in cabaret tables and served soft drinks if wine and beer are not allowed.

  Mike Engeldinger wrote @

Thanks for the comment – I appreciate any and all feedback that can help me make Mike’s a better place.

We had considered round tables and high chairs originally, but we are very limited on storage space and the folding chairs just offer more convenience and configuration options. However, with La Plancha now open and the possibility of dinner/show combination we might have re revisit the idea. I’ll start looking into storable cabaret tables and chairs – if you happen to know a good source I’d be happy to follow up. Thanks again for your comments!

Had an idea:

Instead of Friday Farmers’ Market, any chance of moving the show to Sundays? Why not an ongoing Eldorado Flea Market/Farmers’ Market every Sunday? (Did you see the fantastic response we had at the last Eldorado Flea Market?) We need to shed Eldorado’s “bedroom community” image and pull in people (yes, even the “turistas”) from the surrounding communities. This way, we’ll be maximizing all the hard work that Steve, John, Cindy, Mike, and all the other terrific La Tienda retailers are already doing. Just a thought…

  latiendaeldorado wrote @

Thanks for the feedback. The dates for Farmer’s Market are set by the NM Farmers Market association and are set to ensure that farmers can attend all the different markets. There is already another market in the area on Sunday. As to flea markets, the idea is bouncing around and we are giving it serious consideration. One of our biggest concerns is competing with the existing Eldorado Flea Market. We don’t want a regular flea market to weaken that event. Keep the ideas coming.

We had breakfast at La Plancha this morning. The help was accommodating, the food ,so-so.
The acoustics not good, one loud table ruined it for us. Perhaps banners from the rafters would be good sound barriers ? We need this restaurant, where friends can meet, and want it to be a success. Will certainly try it again.

  latiendaeldorado wrote @

Thanks for the feedback. Sound panels have been identified and are in the plans. So are more decorations which will help absorb some of the sound. As to the food, we do hope you come back. The menu is surprisingly varied in terms of style and flavor. As an example, Steve loves the Carne Asada. Its one of his favorites. For me, its fine, but not something I would order regularly. On the other hand, I love the poblano del dia, and for Steve, its okay, but not something he would order regularly. Consequently, we both absolutely love the restaurant. We’ve been through the menu, know our favorites, and now know which specials we want to try because we’ve learned the flavors. We both highly recommend the Loroco Omlette.

Just wanted to add my congrats to the wonderful job you all are doing. Love the LaT Center and the email Newsletter. I look forward to receiving it every week. Food at LaP is ok, service is great and friendly…need to have at least 2 specials everyday for lunch and dinner…more salad and light items would help. Still need to make it to Mike’s. Keep up the good work!

I had a great time at last months Out and About event. I can’t believe I find it so fun hanging out there. You guys throw good partys.

Are you doing another one of those? I heard it might be every month. If so, whats planned for the next one?

  latiendaeldorado wrote @

Hi Gary,
Out and About will be on the first Tuesday of every month. On September 7th, Out and About will feature a concert by a well known children’s song writer, a miniature horse, ice cream sundaes and the opening of our 1st Art Walk–focusing on photography. The Art Walk will be through all 3 buildings. In addition, the stores are planning lots of other fun stuff. Out and About will be from 6 – 8 on the 7th. Thanks for helping to make these events so much fun.

The Gym at Eldorado is excellent. They have very good equipment of all types, very friendly staff, and great classes such as Zumba and yoga. The Gym is also very clean, unlike most other gyms. I strongly recommend the Gym to anyone who is considering joining!

Just wanted to say that I really appreciate the efforts you make and opportunities you provide for us to build a stronger sense of community here at LaT. It is all good good good.

Destiny –

Regarding your response to those who wished to exclude a person with a differing point of view at the Denish event – Good for you! Thank you for not allowing a few to exclude one with a differing point of view. It makes little difference which point of view was held – it makes a huge difference that you stuck to your guns and did not allow exclusion. It takes courage to stand up to those who often shout the loudest and I, myself, have encountered this attitude in my work in the community, but thank you for reminding folks that all points of view are welcome and we decide for ourselves with whom we agree or disagree.

Just want to thank the three of you for creating such a wonderful place as La Tienda. For so long I would drive by this empty group of buildings that had so much potentional for the community, I felt sad and dissapointed. No More! Wow! Your hearts are so big to work so hard at this creation Thank You!! Thank You!! And the tenants of La Tienda continue to contribute and join in this wonderful creation. Thanks to them too! It just keeps getting better!

Hello Everyone,

Everybody in Eldorado should realize what a fine restaurant we have in La Plancha. It has become my favorite; I dine there several times a week. Their food is excellent (and very fresh), the atmosphere is comfortable and friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. Salvadoran food is pleasantly spicy, never super-hot. Kudos to the chef—Juan Carlos. And it sure beats driving all the way to Santa Fe when you want a really good meal!

A fort for children is a fabulous idea! I am relieved to know that there are leaders (Destiny and Steve) in a community who accept and acknowledge the joy of children. There are many new concepts for playgrounds and a fort could be the beginning. I would love to help out. Check this site out.

First I would like to say thank you for all the wonderful shops and activities that take place at La Tienda in Eldorado. I have but one suggestion regarding all the horrible U-haul trucks that now litter the parking lot. I truly believe that to keep our vistas beautiful and our community tasteful they should have to remain hidden or at least covered. It looks ridiculous having those ugly trucks as one of our very first views as we enter. C’mon what’s next 30 foot inflatable men to attract attention. Sooooo ugly so tasteless.

Thank you for your excellent article, it really helped me.

  Karl Kregor wrote @

Hi Steve & Destiny,
I’d like to second Ben’s letter with some positive ideas for letting folks know U-Haul services are available. 1: add the U-Haul logo to the vertical marque at the entrance. 2: and/or, a 2’x8′ U-Haul sign about 2′ below the parapet over La Plancha, facing north. 3: There seems to be a lot of space at the south end of La Tienda’s property, and I hope it wouldn’t be too inconvenient for you during the rental process.

You’re doing so much for Eldorado services that re-thinking the U-Haul deployments would be one more “feather in your cap!” and a positive boost for nearby neighbors.

Steve ,would you please consider keeping all those ugly U-Haul trucks from the front of your mall, they are and Ive heard from many people quite an EYESORE.It was very inconvenient this morning for my car meeting at La Plancha .It makes it look like La Plancha is not open. Thank You –ED Baca

  Ben wrote @

Yes I agree. There has to be s better way. So we can keep our community beautiful. They are SUCH an eyesore.

El dorado supermarket is clean with decent groceries selection. The employees are polite and helpful but fresh fruits and vegetables are in very poor conditions. Not everything is fresh and we found to much vegetables and fruits ready for trash in the floor and difficult to found real fresh vegetables.
This store do not sale water in large container (5 gallons) really bad choice for be located in rural area with Not recommend drinkable public water
