Looking Glass Yarns is expanding! Beginning on Monday, Feb. 15, we will be open every Monday in our new space (on the East side of Building A, across from The Art Garden and behind Gene’s Sandwich Shop). Please join us at 10:00 for coffee, knitting, and sharing ideas. We are really wanting to develop a vibrant fiber arts center and studio in Eldorado. We are looking for people who would like to teach classes, learn a skill, and most of all to have a place to meet with others who share the love of fiber arts.
We will continue to have ongoing classes every Monday: 1:00 for Crochet and 2:00 for Knitting. In addition, we are planning on adding more open times and weekend classes.
Already scheduled are:
Freeform Elements $30 Sunday, 3/14 Learn how to make scrumbles, motifs, and more using crochet hook, knitting needles, leftover yarn and imagination to create unique, one of a kind pieces .Only the most rudimentary skills are needed as there really are no rules for this technique.
Entrelac $45 includes pattern/instructions Saturday, 3/6 One of the most fascinating and intriguing knitting techniques, it looks as if lengths of knitted fabric are woven together. I just took this class, and I have hardly been able to put it down since. An added bonus is learning how to knit backwards so that you can knit short rows without turning your work. Class includes instruction in knitting backwards and making an entrelac scarf. You will also be prepared for the advanced project and class in late March or early April.
Also scheduled are 2 sessions for the February Block of the Month. This requires preregistration, so be sure to get your January block kit ASAP if you want to join in the fun. The monthly lesson and meeting are included in the price of the kit ($15), so if you are part of his group, be sure to let us know which session you would like to attend: Monday 2/15 or Monday 2/22, both at 11-12 noon. If you can’t make it to either of these, check out our website for Luisa St. times and dates. Each month you can choose from a number of sessions.
Classes already being planned include Socks, Spinning, My First Sweater, Fair Isle Hat, and lots more.
