July 4 at La Tienda
Join La Tienda on Monday, July
4th for a fun community celebration.
From 8 am to 10 am, SERA will be
offering a pancake breakfast. $5 gets pancakes, fruit, juice and great
coffee!
Then, from 1 pm to 5 pm, join us for live music on the patio. The Rattlerz, Santa Fe’s premiere
rockabilly, pop and blues band will be playing those unforgettable songs of the 60s and 70s from Elvis to the Beatles, Jackson Browne and more as well as the
band’s groovin’ original tunes.
In addition to the live music, Diego the alpaca, who took part in a children’s program which aired on public television, and his friends Romeo and Juliet
(miniature mules!) will join us. You can meet them and their owners from Blue Mesa Alpacas and learn about the many things that go on at Blue Mesa where they
raise and train Rocky Mountain gaited horses as well as breed alpacas. Diego in particular loves children and is hoping to make
new friends on July 4th.
Horseshoes and miniature golf will be part of the celebration.

Eldorado Area Gardening Tour
Whet your appetite for gardening, learn how to make things grow in desert soil, and get inspired to start a project of your own – at the 2nd Annual Eldorado Area Gardening Tour, Saturday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This year’s self-guided tour includes seven private residential gardens and the Eldorado School Community Garden and Outdoor Classroom.
What sets the Eldorado Area Gardening Tour apart from other tours is its focus on education. Gardeners, Master Gardeners and homeowners act as docents at each garden to answer questions.
Topics to explore include hardscapes, xeriscapes, cactus, native grasses, perennials, water management, planting strategies, trees, shrubs, vegetables and herbs for high desert gardening. A plant list will be available at each location.
Starting point for the tour is the La Tienda shopping center, just off 285 on Avenida Vista Grande, where visitors can pick up a free tour map. New this year, for a $5.00 donation, is a goody bag full of seeds, fact sheets and a color brochure that details water use per square foot for each garden. Proceeds from donations benefit the Eldorado School Community Garden and Outdoor Classroom.
