New Businesses are opening

Join us Saturday, March 27 for all day events and celebrations:

Barn Dogs opens for business at 10 am on Saturday.  The Horse Shelter, Kindred Spirits, The Sheriff’s Posse, Back Country Horseman,  and Animal Smiles, are all coming to give demonstrations, information about their groups and possibly find homes for a few dogs or horses.  The Sheriff’s Posse is also raffling off a saddle and breastplate (the actual raffle is not that day, but the saddle and breastplate will be there and they will be selling tickets in addition to trying to recruit members.)  There will be product give aways, grand opening specials, as well as hors d’oeuvres, free sample chocolates, and red and white wine. For more information, contact Holly at barndogs@barndogs.net.

SpinDoc will celebrate the opening of its new retail store with a fun-d-raiser. It will again benefit Doctors WIthout Borders
and will feature an open ride format. Get your friends and family to sponsor you  either with a flat donation or a time-based donation (for example,  they could pledge $5 for each 15 minutes you ride). The rider bringing in the most pledges will get a gift from the doctor!  We raised $1800 at the last fun-d-raiser, and are shooting for the lofty goal of $2000 this time. So start spreading the word and let’s see if we can make  it happen.  For information about how to participate, go to
www.spindoc.com

In addition to the fund raiser on Saturday, SpinDoc will be sponsoring the first outdoor shop ride on Sunday, March 28 (weather permitting). Two rides are offered: Chandler will lead a “beginner”  ride looping through Eldorado, while Kirk takes the more advanced  riders round trip to Galisteo along 285 and 41. We will depart from  SpinDoc promptly at 1:00. Please come early if you need air in your  tires or other assistance. Helmets are required to ride.  If you are  unsure about weather conditions, call SpinDoc between 9:00 and noon on
Sunday.

Mike’s Music Exchange is opening a new music store offering new and used musical instruments.  In addition, the store is accepting consignment equipment for resale and providing full service repair on guitars. On Saturday, Mike’s will be registering folks to win an S101 accoustic/electric guitar valued at $200. http://www.mikesmusicexchange.com/

Pages is opening inside The Art GardenThis new store is devoted to the book arts and journaling, but our line of boutique art supplies will be interesting to artists in all media, and it will be great to have a place to get creative right here in Eldorado. A full range of workshops will be offered in addition to our select and eclectic line of art supplies – many of which you may not have heard of before!

We will be serving refreshments, demonstrating a new and wonderful inkjet transfer technique, and celebrating with give aways during our Grand Opening.
In addition to the opening events, 4 Sisters will be hosting a jewelry trunk show featuring Amber Sky Designs and pieces created by jewelry artist Angelika Opala.  Angelika is from Slupes, Poland and is a 1st generation jewelery artisan.    After moving to Santa Fe in 2005 Angelika began to incorporate turquoise into her work to reflect her love of Santa Fe and the Southwest. She uses only genuine amber from the Baltic Sea in her work and genuine turquoise from Arizona. All of Angelika’s pieces are handstrung using only the highest quality materials. Please join the 4 Sisters this Saturday from 2 – 7 pm to experience Amber Sky Designs.  Appetizers and store wide savings are part of this event.

Jono Manson and John Popper at Mike’s Music Exchange

If you do not have reservation show up for walk up seating based on space available.  This is going to be a great night of music, food, and beer.  Food service being provided by La Plancha and Lamy Station and hand crafted beer provided by the Santa Fe Brewing Company.

Go Fly a Kite

Who is ready for spring?  We  love winter but are ready for warmer days and fun things to do outside that do not include snow. La Tienda is planning some kite flying days.

Picture a warm (or at least warmer)  Saturday afternoon with dozens of kites dancing in a clear blue sky.  La Tienda has some great open space to host a community kite flying day.  We are just starting to plan this event.  The problem is we don’t have any kite experts.  Is there anyone in the Eldorado area who knows kites? Let us know if you are interested helping plan this event.  Email sfcomputerworks@aol.com

Barn Dogs is Coming to La Tienda

Barn Dogs at La Tienda in Eldorado will be a tack and supply store with basic items for horses, dogs and riders.  Our goal is to provide a convenient place for horse owners and riders from the Eldorado, Lamy, Galisto, Glorieta and Pecos areas to pick up necessary supplies.  To that end we would love horse people of all disciplines in the area to let us know what items they would like to be able to run in and pick up and what brands they prefer.  We would love to hear from you before we open so we can stock your favorites.  Please email us your thoughts and needs at barndogs@barndogs.net.

We plan to open with basic supplements, first aid items, grooming supplies, halters and leads, leg wraps and saddle pads, wormers, fly sprays and fly masks, and go from there.  We want to prevent local people from having, as one horseman put it, “to go 25 miles to pick up a salt block!”  or a hoof pick, or fly spray, or some treats.  Our Grand Opening is Saturday March 27.  We’re very excited and can’t wait to see you there.
